Send USDT without TRX

The USDT arrived, and it will not move: the app you have asks for TRX. Here is why that happens, and how a gasless wallet sends it anyway, for one fee in USDT that you see first.

LAST UPDATED 30 SEPTEMBER 2026

1. Why your USDT will not move

The network USDT travels on, TRON, charges a small amount for every send, and it takes that charge in its own coin, TRX. An address can hold USDT and no TRX at all. It can receive all day. It cannot send once.

The usual advice is to buy some TRX on an exchange, withdraw it to your address, and keep a little there. That is a second currency, a second purchase with a minimum order, a withdrawal fee, and dust left over, all to move money that is already yours. Most people learn this the first time a payment arrives.

2. What gasless means

A gasless wallet pays the network for your send and takes its fee from the USDT instead. You approve once. Your USDT goes to the person, and the fee comes to us, both from your own address, both signed by you. Nothing of yours sits with us before or after.

"Gasless" is the trade's word, and it is a slight exaggeration: the network's charge is still paid, by us, and the price of it is inside the fee you see. What is gone is the second coin. You hold USDT, you send USDT, and the fee is in USDT.

3. What it costs here

A send usually costs 2 USDT, and 3 USDT to an address that has never held USDT, because the network charges about twice as much to open a new line in its record. Receiving is free.

The fee is the same for $10 and for $10,000. Some apps take a share of the amount instead, which costs less on a small send and more on a month's pay; you can work out which side of that line you are on. How the fee is worked out

4. If you already hold TRX

An address that holds TRX can pay the network directly, the ordinary way. The app shows that route beside the USDT one, with its own price, and preselects the cheaper of the two. Nobody is made to use the gasless route.

5. What stays true

A gasless send is still a send. Once it is approved, it is gone: there is no cancel, no recall, and nobody to call. So the app puts the saved name of the person on the approval screen, and a swapped address shows up as the wrong name before any money leaves.

And USDT is still USDT. Tether, the company that issues it, can freeze the USDT at any address, and does, usually when a police force or a sanctions list asks. We cannot, and neither can any app. Keeping your USDT clean is the page about that.

6. Questions

Can I send USDT with no TRX at all?
Yes. That is the gasless route: the fee is taken from the USDT, and the app pays the network.
Why does a send to a new address cost more?
The network keeps a record of who holds USDT, and an address that has never held any needs a new line in it. The network charges about twice as much for that, once.
Is receiving free?
Yes, from anyone, any number of times. Nothing is charged until you send.
Do you hold my money at any point?
No. Your USDT goes from your address to the person's, and the fee goes from your address to ours, in the same approval. There is no balance of yours on our side.
Does gasless mean free?
No. The network is paid, by us, and that cost is inside the fee you see. What you do not need is a second coin.
